Title: The equivariant Tamagawa number conjecture for Tate motives

Abstract: We give an introduction to the equivariant Tamagawa number conjecture in the easiest case, namely in the case of Tate motives. This can be seen as a vast generalization of the classical analytic class number formula. We then present new unconditional results on this conjecture and, if time permits, discuss some of its consequences. This is joint work with Henri Johnston.
